Pickers Supply to Host Ukulele Skill-building Workshop

Workshop is part of a multi-city Virginia tour

Frets Halligan (aka Charlie Rancke) is coming to the Pickers Supply Concert Hall, 90 Caroline St, on April 19 at 4:00 to present a skill-building ukulele workshop titled, “Beyond the Third Fret: An Adventure in Moveable Chords.” The event is for players who can comfortably change basic chords on the ukulele. The event offers players an opportunity to learn how to make use of more chord possibilities on the instrument. Participants will be reminded of what they already know and how to apply that knowledge to improve their playing.

Halligan has been teaching and performing for many years in Virginia and New England. Much of his experience was gained in Virginia as a skilled Bluegrass guitarist/vocalist. “It was the move to Maine that revived my interest in the ukulele,” Frets says. “It’s so playable, friendly. It invites people to play it and keep learning!”

The workshop is at Pickers Supply Concert Hall, 90 Caroline St, Fredericksburg from 4:00 to 5:30pm. The mini concert is at 6:00, the jam session starts at 7:15. Info: (540) 371-4669. The workshop is part of a Virginia tour with stops in Richmond, Norfolk and the Shenandoah Valley.
