Stafford, VA 22554

Did you know there were two towns in Stafford County with the shared names of Aquia and Woodstock from 1647 to the 1850s?  They were at Brent’s Point, on the tip of the Widewater Peninsula, and in Aquia Harbour near the country club. Historian and author Jerrilyn Eby MacGregor will make a PowerPoint presentation to the Stafford County Historical Society about these towns and the Brents, one of the first families of Stafford. Influential Catholic settlers from Maryland, the Brents are buried near the crucifix on U.S. 1 in North Stafford. Meeting at Board of Supervisors’ Chambers, Stafford Administration Center, 1300 Stafford Courthouse Road. The public is invited. Website: staffordcountyhistoricalsociety.org
