History and wildlife highlight the River Easement Paddle, hosted Saturday, May 17, by Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR). Watershed Property Manager Lee Sillitoe of the Fredericksburg Police Department will guide attendees through the city's riverside land holdings. Meet at the FOR office, 3219 Fall Hill Avenue, at 9:30 a.m. This is a lengthy paddle, so bring plenty of water and lunch, which we'll eat at England Run Falls. Stops along the way include many historic Civil War sites. The day will end back at FOR around 4:30 p.m. The minimum age for attendees is 10. The rain date is May 18. The cost is $35 per person and $105 for a family. The rate for FOR members is $28 per person and $84 for a family. FOR will provide all canoes and safety equipment.
