Sunday, 20 July, 2 - 4PM.  Explore beyond the Mansion and the lawn to the woods of Montpelier.  Venture deep into the Montpelier Demonstration Forest on a two-hour hike.  Learn from experts about conservation and cultivation strategies that generate mutual benefits to man and nature, both in Madison's time and today.  Consider society's dpeendence on this important natural resource then and now.  The walk through President Madison's beloved woodlands will be led by Virginia Master Naturalists through a state-of-the-art trail showcasing various forest and habitat tending methods.  $10 per person or $5 with admission to the Mansion tour; children under 6 years old are free.  The tour begins at 2:00 PM at the Visitor Center.  This program is a Virginia LEAF - Link to Education About Forests - program.  For more information, see:  http://www.montpelier.org/visit.  In case of inclement weather, call (540) 672-2728, ext 141 or 252 for further information.  The Visitors Entrance to Montpelier is located in Orange County at 11407 Constitution Highway, Montpelier Station, VA 22957.
